Vicky Kaushal's film Sam Bahadur clashed with Ranbir Kapoor's Animal at the box office on December 1, 2023. More than a month after its theatrical release, the makers of Sam Bahadur have confirmed the OTT release date of the film. The Meghna Gulzar directorial will begin streaming on ZEE5 on January 26, 2024. A while ago, ZEE5 announced a digital world premiere on Sam Bahadur, which also featured Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra.

Speaking about the film, Sam Bahadur is based on the life of Sam Manekshaw, who was India's first Field Marshal. He also served as the Chief of the Indian Army Staff during the Indo-Pakistan 1971 War. In this movie, Vicky plays the titular role while Sanya Malhotra is seen as Silloo Manekshaw and Fatima Sana Shaikh essays the part of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

In an official statement, Vicky Kaushal not only spoke about playing Sam Manekshaw in Sam Bahadur but also shed light on the film's OTT release on ZEE5. The actor said that portraying the character of India's first Field Marshal has been an incredible journey filled with 'great pride and honor'. He further expressed gratitude to everyone who showered love on the movie upon its theatrical release.

Talking about Sam Bahadur's OTT release, Vicky hoped that through its digital premiere on the platform, the film could reach a wider audience. The actor also stated that he is proud to present his movie on the 75th Republic Day, i.e. on January 26, 2024.

Sam Bahadur's box office collection

Despite a box office clash with Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal, Meghna's film Sam Bahadur did well at the ticket window. The lifetime domestic collection of the movie is Rs 92.97 crore whereas the worldwide gross collection of Sam Bahadur stands at Rs 128.16 crore. The Vicky Kaushal starrer was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 55 crore.
