After playing revolutionary in Shoojit Sircar's Sardar Udham, Vicky Kaushal will next be seen as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in Meghna Gulzar-directed biographical drama Sam Bahadur.
The biopic, among many other upcoming projects, has seen a significant delay in kickstarting production primarily due to the pandemic and its third wave. However, according to a report in Mid-Day, the makers of Sam Bahadur will likely begin the shoot in March.
A source quoted by the outlet also said that Nitesh Tiwari’s project with Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor as well as Kartik Aaryan’s next with director Sameer Vidwans will also go on floors then.
The first look of Kaushal as India's first Field Marshal was released in 2019 on Manekshaw's birth anniversary. The title of the film was unveiled in April last year.
In December, Dangal stars Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra boarded the cast. Shaikh will play Silloo Manekshaw, the Field Marshal's wife while Malhotra will portray India’s first female Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi.
Sam Bahadur is produced by Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP Pictures.
Meanwhile, Kaushal recently wrapped Laxman Utekar's untitled film with Sara Ali Khan, his first collaboration with the actress. He is also part of Shashank Khaitan's comedy Govinda Naam Hai Mera.
