With more details being revealed about The Family Man season 2, more controversies have started brewing. The latest addition to this list is Samantha Akkineni getting barred by streaming giant Amazon Prime Video from speaking about her show. This restriction, coming in the form of a gag order, is following her disclosing her role as a suicide bomber.
Once the masses found out about Samantha’s role, protests began in Tamil Nadu as the show hurt the sentiments of the Eelam Tamils. Monu Thangaraj, Tamil Nadu Minister for Information and Broadcasting, had reportedly written to Prakash Javedkar, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, to stop the screening of the show immediately.
In the midst of these protests has come Samantha’s gag order which prohibits her from discussing the show. Amazon Prime Video, in an attempt to avoid controversies before the release of their project, has issued the gag order so that the audience has the time to allay their rage.
Recently, the actress had expressed her excitement at being part of the second season of The Family Man in an interview with Bollywood Hungama. “I am just lucky to be here and be a part of The Family Man because that is the only thing anyone is asking me back home. ‘When is the family man releasing?’ I am truly honoured to be a part of this team and be a part of this show and in a dream role”, she said.
The Family Man season 2 is all set to release on Amazon Prime Video on June 4.
