Written and directed by Hari and Harish, the film has grossed well over Rs 25 crore at the box office
Despite minimal promotions, Samantha’s action thriller Yashoda has scored big at the box office, grossing well over Rs 25 crore across the globe. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Unni Mukundan played other pivotal roles in the film directed by Harish and Hari, who’d earlier helmed projects like Ambuli and Jumbulingam. Sivalenka Krishna Prasad produced Yashoda under Sridevi Movies.
Expressing her happiness over the film’s success, Samantha shared an emotional post across her social media handles today. Addressing a note to audiences, she wrote, “Your appreciation and love for Yashoda is the greatest gift and support that I could have ever asked for. I am overwhelmed with joy and gratitude. Hearing your whistles and seeing the celebrations at the theatres is proof that all the hard work that the entire team of Yashoda put in was all worth it!”
Stating she was on cloud nine with the responses for the film, she thanked everyone involved with the making of Yashoda. Samantha conveyed her gratitude to the producer Krishna Prasad for trusting her with Yashoda and said it was an absolute pleasure to work with directors, Hari and Harish.
“To my dearest co-actors Varalaxmi Sarathkumar gaaru, Unni Mukundan gaaru and to rest of the amazing cast, it was wonderful collaborating and working with you as well,” she signed off. Rao Ramesh, Murali Sharma, Madhurima, Kalpika Ganesh, Sri Divya Sripada, Sampath Raj, Kavya and Shatru form the supporting cast of the film which had music by Mani Sharma and cinematography by M Sukumar. Marthand K Venkatesh edited the thriller.
The actress’ next theatrical release is Shaakuntalam, to simultaneously release in five languages in 3D and 2D. The film, to release in the first half of 2023, is directed by Gunasekhar and currently undergoing post-production. She’s also part of Kushi, alongside Vijay Deverakonda, a multilingual rom-com directed by Shiva Nirvana and produced under Mythri Movie Makers.
