Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who is a household name in southern cinema, is gearing up for her maiden production venture, Subham. The horror comedy drama is set to release on May 9 in theatres. Ahead of the release, Samantha has been going all out to promote the film along with her team. In one of the latest interviews promoting Subham, Samantha spoke about how being a non-actor in a film and part of the crew has helped her see more of the technicians’ work and contributions as opposed to being an actor.

Known for her roles in films like Ye Maaya Chesave, Oh Baby, Theri and more, actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu is taking a new role as a producer. Her debut film Subham, under the banner Tralala Moving Pictures, is gearing up for release on May 9.

Speaking about being a producer and as someone working on a film offscreen, the A Aa actor said, “I wanted to make films that I would enjoy watching and my identity as a woman is going to influence the choices I make. And this fit in beautifully with what I was looking for. As it progressed, it kept getting better, even at the edit table. It was amazing to be part of it from scratch. Usually, as an actor, you are very spoilt, you turn up on set and sometimes you don't even know your lines. You are detached from the process of filmmaking. So, this gave me a bird's eye view into everything. It also gave me immense respect for everyone who works to put out a film behind the scenes. In fact, my respect for actors has slightly reduced (laughs) and my respect for crew has increased tremendously.”

Starring Harshith Reddy, Gavireddy Srinivas, Charan Peri, Shriya Kontham, Shravani Lakshmi, Shalini Kondepudi, Vamshidhar Goud, and others, the film is directed by Praveen Kandregula, with Vasanth Mariganti penning the story. Set in a small town, the film revolves around three friends who find out that their TV serial addicted wives are possessed by evil spirits, leading to a drastic change in their lives.
