Samantha's thriller Yashoda commences shoot, to release in five languages

Come what may, there's no stopping Samantha and her ascent towards superstardom. She's been on a film signing spree lately across multiple languages and has been making interesting choices, including her decision to appear in a special song for Allu Arjun's Pushpa The Rise. While she's awaiting the release of her epic drama Shaakuntalam next, her forthcoming project, to be jointly helmed by Hari and Harish, went on floors today. 

The film, being produced by Sivalenka Krishna Prasad under Sridevi Movies, has been titled Yashoda. Sridevi Movies has backed several credible projects in the past including Aditya 369, Sammohanam and Gentleman. Yashoda was formally launched today and commenced its principal shoot as well. Samantha, as per a media statement, plays an author-backed role in the film.

Reportedly,a thriller with a new-age plot, Yashoda will have a release across five languages including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. At the launch event, the producer Sivalenka Krishna Prasad stated that the plot was conceived keeping the national fame that Samantha gained after The Family Man 2. He's confident that the thriller would appeal to a large section of audiences.

The filming of Yashoda will be wrapped by March 2022. More details about the cast, crew and release date are awaited. Mani Sharma is composing the music for the film whose crew comprises M Sukumar and Marthand K Venkatesh as the cinematographer and the editor respectively. Popular journalists Pulagam Chinnarayana, Challa Bhagya Lakshmi are penning the dialogues. Ashok and Venkat are on board as the art director and stunt director.
