SamBahadur: Vicky Kaushal starrer biopic on Sam Manekshaw gets a release date after 365 days

Vicky Kaushal will play the title character in Meghna Gulzar's upcoming film SamBahadur, which will be produced by Ronnie Screwvala and released in theatres on December 1, 2023. Sanya Malhotra plays Silloo, Manekshaw's wife, in the movie, and Fatima Sana Shaikh portrays Indira Gandhi, the former prime minister. Today, exactly a year before the movie comes out, the first teaser for it came out, getting people excited for the eagerly awaited premiere.

A battalion of army officers is seen in the footage clearing the way for Sam Bahadur. Since the movie's announcement, people have been talking about Vicky's striking likeness to Sam and her accurate representation of the character, and now that the release date has been pushed back, anticipation is only growing.

Sam Manekshaw served in the Army for four decades and five conflicts. He was the first Indian Army general to be given the title of Field Marshal, and his victory in the Indo-Pak War in 1971 led to the creation of Bangladesh.

Earlier in a statement, Vicky spoke about playing Sam Manekshaw, saying that the opportunity to play a real-life hero and patriot still admired and revered for his contributions to our nation is an honour. As an actor, there is a lot to take in and learn. Considering the preparation and effort that the entire team has put forth, The spectators will no doubt be enthralled by Sam's captivating path toward creating the India of today.

While Fatima shared that it's a great honour to be a part of such an inspirational tale of one of the country's greatest war heroes. She hopes that after watching Sam Bahadur, those who haven't heard of Sam Manekshaw will always remember him.

For Sanya, it's an enormous honour to play Silloo, who has been Sam's support system throughout his journey. Her utmost effort will be made to do honour to both her part and the movie, which is being directed by Meghna Gulzar.

Vicky and Meghna collaborated for the first time in Raazi, and this is their second film together. The 2018 release featured Alia Bhatt in the leading role. Fatima and Sanya have worked together for the third time since their first roles in Dangal, which was directed by Nitesh Tiwari, and Ludo, which was directed by Anurag Basu.
