Samir Soni got no work offers after Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Baghban's success - 'Every evening, I would go...'

Samir Soni has been actively working in the showbiz for nearly three decades. The actor has been a part of several Bollywood films, including the 2003 hit movie Baghban. Soni played the role of an ungrateful son to Amitabh Bachchan's character in the movie. He was seen as Sanjay Malhotra. In his latest interview, Samir revealed he got no work offers even after the film became a hit upon its theatrical release. The actor recalled how he coped with a rough patch in his career.

Samir Soni on his work life after Baghban's success

In an interview with Ujjawal Trivedi, Samir Soni reflected on the time after Baghan's success in 2003. The actor recalled, "Even after the film became a hit, I didn’t get a single work offer for three months. I used to live close to the beach at that time. So every evening, I would go on the beach and cry. "

Soni further recounted, "I would ask god, what do you want? I have left everything. If you don’t want to make me a hero, don’t do it. Either you tell me I can’t act. Now that I have compromised that I can be a villain, I am not getting any work. Now what do I do?"

In the same conversation, Samir revealed he wondered why he was offered a villain's role in Ravi Chopra's Baghban. The actor, who was also part of Dance Like A Man, went back home and wondered what he should do. After giving it a thought, Soni called director Ravi and requested him to give a character who had the majority of scenes with Amitabh Bachchan.

Although he didn't get work for three months post Baghban, the actor soon got an opportunity to feature in a TV show. It was Mona Singh and Gaurav Gera's Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. The show became a milestone in his acting career.
