It's quite rare for a mainstream lead to accept the failure of his film in public and say that he truly respects the audience's verdict. The maturity of Kiran Abbavaram, while answering a reporter's question during the teaser launch of Sammathame, was apparent while he stated that Sebastian PC524 didn't shape upto his expectations and that he wouldn't want to live in denial mode about it. And hence, he's playing safe this time around with Sammathame, a light-hearted romantic comedy more in the feel-good space.
The Sammathame teaser, released yesterday, wasn't only relatable and sensible but also equally funny. Kiran Abbavaram's comic-timing got a terrific showcase and was also ably backed by Chandini Chowdary's refreshing screen presence. The first-time director Gopinath Reddy looks to have a fair idea of the strengths of both the lead actors and the results are showing. Hence, the good reception of the teaser doesn't exactly come as a surprise.
While Kiran's previous films Sebastian PC 524 and SR Kalyana Mandapam had very little scope for its female leads, apparently Sammathame will offer a full-fledged role for Chandini Chowdary. The actress, who's experimented with a variety of roles, both in her feature film offers and on OTTs, looks her ravishing best in the urban tale and was so convinced with the part that she accepted it within her first narration. Sammathame, if accepted well by the mainstream audience, will be a shot in the arm for the actress.
Kankanala Praveena is bankrolling the film under UG Creations while Shekar Chandra composes the music score. Sateesh Reddy Masam is the cinematographer while Viplav Nyshadam is the editor. The technical crew also includes art director Sudheer Macharla and costume designer Manogna Avunoori. Sammathame's teaser has hit the 3-million-mark on Youtube already. The film will make it to the cinemas on June 24.
