Kiran Abbavaram, after scoring hits with his first two films, Raja Vaaru Rani Gaaru and SR Kalyana Mandapam, tasted a box office failure in the form of Sebastian PC 524 recently, in which he played a cop who has night-blindness. He'll look forward to returning to form again with his next, the romantic entertainer Sammathame. Chandini Chowdary plays the female lead in the light-hearted romance, written and directed by Gopinath Reddy.
Sammathame, produced by Kankanala Praveena under UG Productions, is releasing on June 24 across the globe. The makers, who had kickstarted the promotions a while ago, already released the teaser and a couple of singles, which released to decent responses from netizens. Sekhar Chandra is composing the music score for the romance. Now, the team has launched the third single, Baava Thaakithe, a retro-themed number sung by Mallikarjun and Malavika, lyricised by Sanapati Bharadwaj Patrudu.
The song starts with a youngster and his father arriving at the wedding of the former's friend. Kiran Abbavaram wears a dejected expression, signalling that he's waiting to find the love of his life too. Just then, he comes across a beautiful girl, played by Chandini Chowdary. Interestingly, Mallikarjun and Malavika too make an appearance in the retro number, in which they are giving a live performance at the ending. Later, Kiran imagines his future with his romantic interest and the duo dances to a 50s,60s song, set to a pleasant yet catchy tune.
Sateesh Reddy Masam has cranked the camera for the film edited by Vilpav Nyshadam. Sudheer Macharla is the art director. Sammathame actress Chandini Chowdary was recently seen in ZEE5's web show Gaalivaana, that was an adaptation of BBC's UK-based show Retribution/One of Us.
