Samrat Prithviraj box office collection Day 9: Akshay Kumar’s movie is a dud; could have an early release on OTT

Akshay Kumar, who is known for delivering consecutive hits, has now delivered two duds in a row. His latest, Samrat Pritviraj, has failed to impress the fans and is close to coming to a crashing halt. 

The movie has only been able to reportedly collect around Rs 59 crore at the domestic box office, with a large portion of this coming from its first three days of release. Reports also suggest that the movie is still failing to have minimum footfalls in shows, leading to cancellations. 

According to reports, the movie has only collected Rs 2.30 crore on its ninth day, which was a Saturday. The movie also only had a 18.76 percent Hindi occupancy yesterday. Having made a whopping budget of around Rs. 200 crore, the movie will struggle to earn back half of it from the looks of it. 

The latest buzz around the movie also suggests that in a last ditch effort to minimize losses, the movie could arrive on OTT earlier than expected. According to Bollywood Hungama, the movie could arrive for streaming within four weeks of its big release. 

Written and directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the epic historical drama also stars Manushi Chhillar, in her acting debut, Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Manav Vij, Ashutosh Rana, and Sakshi Tanwar.

The movie, whose streaming rights has already been acquired by Amazon Prime Video, is currently available in theatres around the country.
