Samrat Prithviraj: Manushi Chhillar opens up about her Bollywood debut with Akshay Kumar

Within a week, Samrat Prithviraj will be making its way onto the big screen. Miss World winner Manushi Chhillar makes her Bollywood debut with the historical drama. Chhillar recently opened up about making her debut with the highly awaited film, and the ‘responsibility’ she felt working alongside seasoned stars such as Askhay Kumar.

In a conversation with Pinkvilla, the actress talked about how Yash Raj Films, who bankrolled the film, and her co-star Kumar had experience working with newcomers in the industry. As a result, they were aware of the challenges she faced and tried to make her comfortable. But the actress was well aware of the responsibility of working on the film, and essaying a role as important as Sanyogita.

Chhillar recalled the first scene she filmed in Samrat Prithviraj, which was alongside Ashutosh Rana and Sakshi Tanwar, who play Sanyogita’s parents. The scene in question is one where Sanyogita has an argument with her father. Calling it the ‘longest and heaviest’ scene she had in the film, the actress recalled how easy it was to feel ‘scared’ of Rana when he was in character. But, Chiillar says that both actors were ‘very sweet’, and she had a great time interacting with them. She spoke about their professionalism, and how they were ‘always ready’ during shooting.

The actress revealed that her first day on the set mostly involved understanding the technical side of things, including the lighting, camera and focus. “It was a very different experience. I never thought that it's that consuming as a profession," she added.

Samrat Prithviraj will be released in theatres on June 3, 2022.
