Sanam Teri Kasam makers confirm Mawra Hocane is 'definitely' not part of sequel; will Harshvardhan Rane step in again?

Sanam Teri Kasam 2 has been in the talks for a while now. The movie made news recently when Taish actor Harshvardhan Rane, the leading actor of the original film, decided to step out of the movie sequel after the co-star of his first shared a tweet which showed India in a negative light. Days after his stand, the makers have clarified that she is indeed not a part of the film.

Mawra Hocane not a part of Sanam Teri Kasam 2

During their interview with Hindi Rush, Sanam Teri Kasam director duo Vinay Sapru and Radhika Rao confirmed what was anyway speculated. They laughed while confirming that Mawra Hocane is definitely not a part of the sequel. "Mawra definitely nahi hai," Vinay said. The Pakistani actress, who was a part of the original film, dies in the movie. Nonetheless, fans of the film wanted her back, till the recent tensions between India and Pakistan and everything that happened since.

Sanam Teri Kasam sequel confirmed

Despite the controversy, the director duo has hinted that the sequel to Sanam Teri Kasam is definitely in the works and the original was penned to keep it open for a sequel. "But, then no one asked for that story, so we kept it aside. Now, the demand for that story is there, so we have taken it out and are working on it," Vinay confirmed, recalling how the movie had tanked during its original release and was loved only after its recent theatrical re-release. The makers are trying to release the movie in 2026 itself.

Is Harshvardhan Rane still a part of Sanam Teri Kasam 2?

Although Harshvardhan Rane was eager to be a part of Sanam Teri Kasam sequel, he had declined the movie if Mawra Hocane would be a part of it. Now that the makers have confirmed that Mawra is not in the film, it looks like Harshvardhan could be back. However, the Paltan actor is yet to confirm anything on the film.
