Dhak Dhak actress Sanjana Sanghi drops update on sequel release: 'People showered a lot of love and...'

Dhak Dhak starring Sanjana Sanghi, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ratna Pathak Shah, and Dia Mirza was released in theaters in October 2023. The adventure drama began to receive a lot of love after it landed on Netflix. The plot revolves around four women who embark on a journey to the world's highest motorable pass, Khardung La, on their motorcycles, exploring themes of self-discovery and empowerment. The sequel to the film was earlier already confirmed by director Tarun Dudej. Now, in a new interview, Sanjana shared an update on Dhak Dhak 2.

Sanjana Sanghi on Dhak Dhak 2

During an interview with IANS, Sanjana Sanghi was asked whether the makers of Dhak Dhak are preparing for a sequel or not. Reacting to it, the actress shared, "People showered a lot of love on Netflix to our film 'Dhak Dhak' and because of that we are coming up with a sequel, which I am very very excited about." However, the actress did not reveal many details about the sequel.

Tarun Dudeja on Dhak Dhak 2

Earlier speaking to Hindustan Times, Tarun Dudeja revealed that Dhak Dhak 2 is in the scripting stage. He said that it is in a very nascent stage right now. 

"The response we got after the OTT release was great; the audiences liked the characters. Why not take these characters on a new journey?” he shared.

Tarun also said he wants the cast of the film to be the same as the prequel and added that the cast would be the same because people loved these characters. He shared that they are brainstorming ideas on how to make this into a good fresh story. 

"We don’t want it to be like any other travel film, it should be different like the first part, that’s our goal. We are basically on stage one of scripting," Tarun revealed.

Dhak Dhak is the story of four women Manpreet Kaur Sethi "Mahi" (Ratna Pathak Shah), Shashi Kumar Yadav "Sky" (Fatima Sana Shaikh), Uzma (Dia Mirza), and Manjari alias "Lali" (Sanjana Sanghi), who begin a journey to reach the world's highest motorable pass, Khardung La, on their motorcycles. The movie clearly showcases the definition of self-discovery and empowerment as they face challenges on the road and in their personal lives.
