With bated breath, KGF fans have been awaiting the release of the sequel. The Yash starrer has got bigger and meaner in the second instalment with the new additions to the cast, including Sanjay Dutt as the main antagonist, Adheera, Raveena Tandon as Ramika Sen, Prime Minister of India, and Prakash Raj as Vijayendra Ingalagi. Dutt took to his social media pages and confirmed that the film would indeed be released on April 14, 2022, amid several speculations.

The actor shared a few photos from a recording studio and also posed with the director of KGF, Prashanth Neel. Dutt captioned his post, stating, "Adheera is back in action! The dubbing sessions are done for #KGFChapter2 and it is on its way to theatres near you on April 14th, 2022."

While Hombale Films, who has produced the movie, also shared a photo of the Khalnayak actor and wrote, "Dubbing sessions completed for our very own #Adheera @duttsanjay, in theatres from April 14th, 2022. #KGFChapter2."

Earlier, at the trailer launch event for Prassthanam, Dutt compared Adheera to the Avengers' supervillain Thanos. The actor said in KGF that his character, Adheera, is extremely powerful and is similar to Thanos from The Avengers. Dutt added that Adheera is comparable to Thanos, and he was mentioned at the end of KGF: Chapter 1. He revealed that in Part 2, Adheera is shown to be a dangerous character with frightening make-up, which he believes was the role he was looking for.

In an interview, Neel spoke about Adheera and casting Dutt for the role. The filmmaker shared that they wanted something menacing for this character, so they looked all over the world for inspiration. Neel thought the Vikings were a dangerous tribe and should be included in the story, but it also had to be a part of the story. As a result, they portrayed Dutt's character as someone who was inspired by the people and what they did to commit the same level of brutality.
