When given an all-black part, Sanjay Dutt frequently excels in it. His behaviour in the just-released KGF: Chapter 2 is a good illustration. The actor will now square off against Ranbir Kapoor by portraying Shuddh Singh, the film's adversary, in Shamshera. Given that Dutt's iconic Kancha Cheena role in Agneepath (2012) was created by director Karan Malhotra, the pair intended to raise the bar when they reteamed for the dacoit drama. However, focusing on his appearance proved to be challenging.
As per reports in Mid Day, Dutt chose to shave his head to give the role a threatening appearance after the director rejected several wigs and hairstyles. The actor recalled that after Agneepath, he had been collaborating with Karan once more. Even though the director didn't say it out loud, Dutt could tell he was hesitant by the look he gave him, which is normally how the actor can tell what Karan loves and dislikes. No matter what they did, it never looked right. So, on a whim, Dutt decided to shave his head.
Hairstylist Shariq and makeup artist Sushil could experiment with a variety of looks because of Dutt's bald avatar. The cast finally agreed that the actor's appearance suited the character after a few days, as his hair had reached a close-cropped style. To add impact, the hairstylist placed a tuft of hair on the crown.
Dutt continued, saying that shaving his head signalled that he was giving up his vanity and was ready to go the additional mile for the character. As an actor whose long hair was well-loved and whose appearance made Shuddh Singh seem so much more powerful.
Also featuring Vaani Kapoor as the female lead, Shamshera has Ranbir playing dual roles of father and son. The film, produced by Aditya Chopra, is set to hit the big screens on July 22, 2022.
