Sanjay Dutt is thrilled to play Daroga Shuddh Singh, the film's adversary, in Ranbir Kapoor's Shamshera, which was directed by Karan Malhotra. He previously worked with Malhotra on the 2012 film Agneepath, in which he played the cruel Kaancha Cheena. This is their second time working together.

In an interview with Indian Express, Dutt discusses what inspires him as an actor after more than 40 years in the Hindi film industry, the advice his father, Sunil Dutt, gave him, and why he believes Ranbir Kapoor can successfully portray both a dacoit and a lover boy.

After working in the same field for four decades, when asked what motivates him to make movies, he responded that films encourage him to make movies; he gets excited to be a part of this industry. Even though he is getting older, he doesn't believe he is getting older in his heart because, as his father, Sunil Dutt, once said, every actor has a child inside of him.

When questioned further if he had learned any difficult lessons during his lengthy career in Bollywood, he said that his life had been hard.

Sanjay expressed his excitement for Shamshera as it is a film for the general public. He declared that Shamshera is an incredible movie; it's the most mainstream movie he has seen in recent years. He has worked in this field his entire life, yet Bollywood seems to have forgotten about it.

The actor is delighted that there are filmmakers like Karan Malhotra and a few others who support that style of filmmaking and who don't ignore or dissociate themselves from places like UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, and all those belts. They must not lose sight of the fact that they are their primary audience. Therefore, he finds this interesting and he enjoys making these kinds of movies.

Ranbir has mostly been seen in urban, coming-of-age movies. Therefore, Shamshera will be his blatant masala feature. Sanjay is anticipating this shift in Kapoor's acting career and encourages him to pursue this aspect further. Dutt is overjoyed that Ranbir is playing this character in this movie and that he hasn't abandoned his other types of work to accomplish it. The actor performed in Saajan and Jodi No. 1 back when he was an action star. While Ranbir hasn't evolved and hasn't abandoned himself, he can still perform roles that suit him.

Dutt says this not simply out of admiration for Ranbir but also because he thinks of him as a versatile actor who can play any role. He can play Shamshera, do comedy, be a lover boy, or be a college student.

Sanjay said, speaking of his connection with the actor, that Ranbir is a very clean soul. He is an honest young man who is committed, and he respects everyone with sincerity. The Brahmastra actor's morals and emotions are at their highest, and these things matter a lot in life because he comes from a famous family.

Dutt called Ranbir a fantastic performer, and all he could advise him to do was explore, since the more one delves into the world of film, the higher the peaks he reaches.
