Sanjay Dutt remembers his father Sunil Dutt on his birth anniversary, pens down a special note

In a career spanning over four decades, Sanjay Dutt is one of the most refined actors in the Bollywood industry. It is due to this reason that he has won several accolades to date and has acted in over a hundred films, ranging from romance to crime thrillers. He is best known for essaying the character ‘Munna Bhai’ in the Munna Bhai series (2003–2006) which is believed to be his most iconic role to date. 

Who is the inspiration behind such a magnanimous personality? The answer is his late father, Sunil Dutt. Just like his son, Sunil Dutt, too, was a very popular actor in Bollywood, especially during the mid 90’s era. Some of his successful films, in which he featured, include Mother India (1957), Sadhna (1958), Gumraah (1963), and Padosan (1967) to name a few. For his splendid contribution to the film industry, he was even awarded a Padma Shri by the Government of India.

Sunil Dutt died of a heart attack in May 2005. At the time of his death, Sanjay was in jail as he was convicted later for violation of the Arms Act for possession of illegal weapons procured from other accused in the 1993 Bombay bombings. Sanjay was released from jail in 2016.

Today is Sunil Dutt’s birth anniversary. On this special day, Sanjay penned an emotional post for his father. He wrote, “I love and miss you so much, Dad. Happy birthday! Love you, Dad.” With this post, he attached a collage of pictures showcasing the adorable bond shared between a father and a son.

After being released from jail, Sanjay Dutt has resumed his work in the film fraternity. Sanjay will next be seen in the film Ghudchadi, alongside actors Raveena Tandon and Parth Samthaan.
