If the buzz in the industry is to be believed, Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt is all set play the antagonist in Thalapathy Vijay's next, which is tentatively being referred to as Thalapathy67. The film will be directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, who had earlier directed Vijay in Master. We hear that Sanjay Dutt, who had earlier starred as the villain in the K.G.F franchise will be playing a ruthless antagonist in the Vijay-starrer as well.

The hearsay is that Vijay will be playing a gangster in his 40s in the film and that his role might be on the lines of Rajinikanth's Baasha. According to a Pinkvilla report, it is said that the script needed a powerful villain and since Sanjay Dutt was quite impressive as Adheera in the KGF franchise, he was roped in for the film. The report also states that the team has been in talks with the Bollywood actor for a while and that he has been roped in for a whopping amount. The film is likely to be a pan-India release.

It said that after Kamal Haasan's Vikram, Lokesh Kanagaraj's popularity has soared across film industries and is one of the sought-after directors in the industry.  The film had Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil in the lead along with a  special appearance by Suriya as Rolex. While Vikram was made as a Tamil film and later released in multiple languages, it looks like Thalapathy67 might be billed as a pan-India project right from the beginning.

The shoot for the film is likely to begin once Vijay wraps up his work on Vamshi Paidipally's Varisu, which has Rashmika Mandanna in the lead. While Vijay's Varisu is billed as a Pongal release, Thalapathy67 is likely to hit screens for Diwali next year. Fans are eagerly looking forward to the second collaboration of the Master duo.
