Sanjay Dutt’s childhood
Sanjay Dutt was born on July 29 in Bombay to Bollywood actors Sunil Dutt and Nargis Dutt. Both were the most celebrated actors in the Bollywood industry at the time. Hence, Sanjay grew up in the lavish and luxurious life of Bombay with his sisters, Priya and Namrata.
Sanjay Dutt's first step in Bollywood
Fans would know that Sanjay Dutt made his Bollywood debut in 1981 with Rocky. The film was directed by his father, Sunil Dutt, and was a massive hit. It was a box office hit and Sanjay became the talk of the town. But what fans don't know is that his mother, Nargis, died a few days before the release of his film. Reports say that Sanjay could not handle the pain of losing his mother.

The pain of losing his mother and access to loads of money made Sanjay Dutt fall prey to the trap of drug addiction. His father, Sunil Dutt, admitted him to a rehabilitation centre in the US in 1982.

Sanjay was charged by the Mumbai Police in 1993 regarding the Mumbai bomb blasts. The actor was alleged to have kept weapons and explosives for gangsters, which were used in the blast. The result of which got the actor a jail term of 18 months. Sanjay was arrested under the Terrorist and Disruptive (Prevention) Act (TADA) for illegal possession of arms.
Sanjay Dutt's five-year jail term
Sanjay Dutt's conviction for illegal possession of weapons in connection with the 1993 Mumbai bombing was upheld by the Supreme Court. He was sentenced to a five-year jail term in 2013.
Sanjay was released from jail in 2016 on terms of good conduct.
