“Sanjith Hegde just nailed it. It’s a beautiful rendition”, “Kannada version is probably the best after the Hindi version. Kudos to the singer”, “Perfect lyrics, Perfect Singing and Perfect Music. Happy for Sanjith Hegde”, “Sanjit hegde has killed it!!! I am surprised that this version is better than Original Hindi.. although I am hardcore Arijit fan”, Can’t believe that Sanjith Hegde has sung the Kannada version. So happy for him. Time to show Bollywood our great Karnataka talent” , “This guy has matched arijit and is giving same emotions as the hindi version. I don't understand a word of kannada but enjoying this version equally. Loads of love and respect to our super talented southern industry” – these are only some of the many compliments that have been steadily flowing in for Bengaluru boy Sanjith Hegde, after his version of the new song from Ayan Mukherji’s Brahmastra: Part 1, Kesariya was released yesterday.

What’s most interesting is that a lot of the people who have been showering praise on Sanjith are not from Karnataka and do not understand the lyrics either. The song, out now in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada has Arijit Singh for the Hindi version, Sid Sriram’s vocals in Tamil and Telugu, with Sanjith singing it in Kannada.

The Kannada version has been lyrics by filmmaker Yogaraj Bhat, who, unlike in the Hindi version, which has a smattering of English words in it, has gone all out in pure Kannada. “Moment I heard 'anuraagada unmada' I knew it is written by someone special and there he is, our very own bhatru. Awesome lyrics and sanchith's voice just melting our heart. Best version 'kesariya rangu',” wrote one fan. “Yograj Bhat lyrics always Top level in Kannada language,” wrote another, while a third chimed in, “Bhatru lyrics actually gave more meaning to the visuals”.

Brahmastra, which stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy, among others, is coming to theatres on September 9.
