Rachita Ram was conspicuously absent during Sanju Weds Geetha 2's initial release, attending only a couple of events and doing no publicity interviews. For the re-release, she's made no appearances

The team of the Kannada film Sanju Weds Geetha 2 had, for the longest time, maintained that the reason that heroine Rachita Ram (Seetharama Kalyana ) was not a part of the promotional activities was because she was busy with other prior commitments. She did not promote the film during its initial release in January this year, and remains conspicuously absent even now that Nagashekar and co are looking at bringing it to theatres with a re-edited version that includes 21-minutes of additional footage.
With only days to go for Sanju Weds Geetha 2’s re-release on June 6, 2025, which, Nagashekar calls the actual release, there are finally murmurs of discord with the actress. Leading man Srinagara Kitty (Veeram) did not say as much, but hinted that the actress may have stated that she is not contractually bound to promote the film.
“If you’ve done a film, you have to promote it; it’s your responsibility. You need to own and show love to your film. Cinema is our bread-and-butter and a producer takes care of all our requirements during the shoot, in terms of food, clothing and shelter, besides our remuneration. Expecting everything to be put in a contract makes this whole process too corporatised,” said Kitty.
The actor added that he’s been in the film industry for 25 years, a time in which no one’s ever had anything to say about his behaviour on set or during the release of his films. He’s done justice by all his projects. “As an actor, you have certain responsibilities towards your films; you need to fulfil them,” he added.
Director Nagashekar chimed in, citing the example of the late Sahasa Simha Vishnuvardhan, who’d sit with the teams of his films to chart out promotional plans, as he considered it his job to ensure the movies reach audiences. “When actors don’t fulfil promotional obligations, it is a big failing on their part. It hurts a lot of people and should be condemned,” said the filmmaker.
