When director Nagshekar pulled his Sringara Kitty and Love You Rachchu fame Rachita Ram-led film Sanju Weds Geetha 2 out of theatres after only a 3-day run in January 2025, he had explained that he had taken note of the remarks from audiences citing inconsistencies in the narrative, which he attributed to the inability to upload the final edit copy for the theatrical release, as he was battling legal issues at the time. He had released a fragmented version, which did not include Ragini Dwivedi’s portions, given that she was the antagonist in the tale.
The Kempe Gowda actress had been left with only a song and a fleeting appearance in another scene, which she was not too pleased with. But that is set to be remedied, what with the makers finally bringing a revised version back to theatres. Nagshekar had announced that he’d re-release the film, but did not have a date set back then.
Well, it’s here now - Sanju Weds Geetha 2 will be back in theatres with at least 20 minutes additional footage, which the filmmaker says is the heart of the story, on June 6, 2025. This will include scenes featuring Ragini, Sampath Raj and Rangayana Raghu.
Incidentally, a few days ago, the team had released the full video of the film’s special number Habibi, featuring Ragini, which led to speculation that it could be skipping a re-release and heading to OTT soon. Turns out, the full video release was to drum up excitement about the impending re-release of Sanju Weds Geetha 2.
The film, meanwhile, was a rags-to-riches story for Kitty’s character Sanju, who toils hard to give his wife Geetha (Rachita), the luxuries she grew up with. Their relationship, of course, faces objections, but they soldier on. Like the 2011 Sanju Weds Geetha, the new film also has a tragic ending.
