Anil Ravipudi reveals how the salute scene was almost removed
He attended a roundtable interview along with a few popular directors from Telugu cinema and spoke at length about his biggest hit, Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, now streaming on OTTplay.
The Venkatesh starrer has hilarious comedy, and one scene where Venkatesh decides to go on a special mission and tries to salute his boss but injures his back and becomes unfit for the mission is one of the iconic scenes in recent times, and was loved by the audience in theaters.
Speaking about the same scene, Anil says that his team was not sure about it and wanted it to be removed from the script.
“The salute scene was a crazy moment, but whoever I narrated it to did not like it and said the audience would not like such a scene, especially a star hero like Venkatesh performing it against his image. But Venkatesh loved the scene and asked me to go with it. That particular scene comes during the interval and surprises the audience,” says Anil.
Sankranthiki Vasthunnam ended up making Rs 300 crore at the box office and is in the top five biggest hits of all time in Tollywood. Anil is known to be the king of comedy and says that generating fun is the hardest thing on the big screen, and things have worked out for him to date.
