Karthik Yogi's Santhanam-starrer Dikkiloona, which has been lying in the cans for a long time, is the latest Tamil film to go the OTT way. The movie, which will have the actor essaying three roles for the first time, went on floors a couple of years ago. Though an official announcement is yet to be made by the makers, a source close to the actor confirms the same. Talking to OTTplay, the source says, "The film was supposed to release on an OTT platform a while ago, but it didn't materialize because both the makers and the digital avenue could not conclude an agreement. A deal was signed recently by both the parties as a result of which the film is expected to release on Zee5 on September 10."
Yogi Babu, Munishkanth, Anandraj and Naan Kadavul Rajendran play crucial roles in the comic caper which has Anagha and Shirin Kanchwala playing female leads. Dikkiloona has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, editing by Jomin and cinematography by Arvi. The movie was earlier in the news when Yuvan had composed the remix version of the evergreen song Per Vachalum Vaikama Ponalum, composed by Ilaiyaraaja, from Kamal Haasan-starrer Michael Madana Kama Rajan. It is said that Santhanam will play the protagonist, antagonist and a comedian in the film which is bankrolled by Kotapadi J Rajesh. Dikkiloona was initially supposed to release in April 2020.
The actor's Biscuit, which was directed by R Kannan, was one of the two films to have released in Tamil Nadu after theatres were opened post the first lockdown last year. Anand Balki's long-delayed project Server Sundaram and Srinivasa Rao's Sabapathy are two of Santhanam's upcoming releases. The latter, we hear, is likely to have a release on SonyLIV and that it is just a matter of time for the makers to announce the same.
