After starring in the family entertainer Momo in Dubai, Malayalam actress Anu Sithara is next gearing up for his film Santhosham, which also has Kalabhavan Shajohn, Amith Chakalakkal, Mallika Sukumaran, Lekshmi and Asha Aravind in pivotal roles.
The movie, which is helmed by Ajith V Thomas, also has cinematographer Karthik A, editor John Kutty and composer PS Jayhari as part of its crew. Santhosham is scripted by Arjun T Sathyan.
What is Santhosham about?
The movie revolves around a family of four. Kalabhavan Shajohn plays the father and Asha Sharath essays the mother while Anu Sithara plays one of their two daughters. The age gap between the two daughters is 15 years and relationship between the two siblings drive the film, which also has Mallika Sukumaran essaying the mother of Shajohn’s character.
“The reason I decided to do Santosham was that I didn’t have to act in this movie. I have only tried to be who I am in this film – a family man. I am someone who cracks jokes at home and try to diffuse things through humour. My character in this film is also similar,” said Shajohn.
The movie also looks at the various relationships within the family – be it the mother-son dynamics between Shajohn and Mallika or the mother-daughter bond. Amith essays the role of KC Gireesh, who falls in love with Anu Sithara’s character.
It’s also a story that would connect with the parents who have daughters, said the actor. “The movie doesn’t have too many poignant moments but it has emotions that people would connect with,” he said.
When and where to watch Santhosham?
The movie is set to release in theatres on February 24. The movie will clash with Anaswara Rajan, Mamitha Baiju and Arjun Ashokan’s Pranaya Vilasam, Bhavana and Sharafudheen-starrer Ntikkakkakoru Premamondarnn and Anikha Surendran’s Oh My Darling.
