Shahana Goswami's film Santosh has been shortlisted for Oscars 2025. Filmmaker Sandhya Suri's movie is a Hindi-language film submitted by the UK in the International Feature Film category. While the film is yet to secure a nomination, Santosh was set for a theatrical release in India on January 10. However, there's uncertainty around the movie's release in theatres on the said date. The film's theatrical release in India might get delayed.
Santosh's India release postponed?
Shahana Goswami-starrer might not be released on January 10 as it hasn't got the clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). While the film's trailer was approved earlier this month, the main movie is yet to get the final nod.
"In all likelihood, there will be a delay in the film’s release. In the past few days, screenings have not happened on time. Unless the film is watched, the board cannot be certain. Sure, the film’s essence should not be compromised, but it has to [align with] local sensibilities," a source told Mid-Day.
A marketing hand at PVR Pictures told the tabloid that there is a need for dedicated screens in select areas for Santosh. "Once the film is certified, we will schedule it. It might be pushed by a few days, but it will be released in January." Written and directed by Sandhya Suri, the film stars Shahana Goswami in the titular role.
