In the Netflix original film Kathal: A Jackfruit Mystery, Sanya Malhotra portrays a police inspector tasked with tracking down two missing jackfruits. The actor claimed that working on the film helped her learn that a woman cop doesn't have to be "masculine" to accomplish her job. This is the first time she will be seen as a police officer.

Sanya told PTI that women contribute so much sensitivity to whatever they do, no matter where they go. It was amazing to watch that. Even though she is portraying a female police officer, she doesn't need to have a macho demeanour or posture. She can also be quite feminine.

Yashowardhan Mishra, a first-time director, wrote Kathal: A Jackfruit Mystery with Ashok Mishra, and it is based on actual events and is set in the fictitious village of Moba. Mahotra claimed she spent two days in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, following a female police officer to understand her character, Mahima better.

Sanya said that they observed these macho males dressed in police gear. She also believed that her body language would have reflected it whenever she wore the uniform. But then the actor spotted a female police officer who was feminine, lovely, kind, and sympathetic. She was wonderful, and she greatly aided her in developing her persona. Sanya joined her at her office and is appreciative that she allowed her to sit in a corner and observe how she went about her daily duties. It's lovely to witness that aspect of authority via tales like Kathal and Delhi Crime.

Sanya said working closely with the police officer helped her see the woman beyond the uniform. Whatever they do is met with increased empathy. It's not carrying a gun; they can do it too; there's no issue. But the actor saw someone beyond their uniform for the first time when she met this female officer, who inspired her greatly.

The same companies that previously produced the Netflix film Pagglait with Sanya in it are behind the upcoming Hindi film: Sikhya Entertainment and Balaji Telefilms Ltd. Malhotra signed Kathal: A Jackfruit Mystery for a variety of reasons.

The actor will reunite with Oscar winner Guneet Monga, who produced Pagglait under Sikhya Entertainment, in the film, which is scheduled to begin streaming on May 19.

Right after Pagglait, Sanya recalls receiving a call from Guneet. Pagglait was fantastic for her career and herself. Guneet told her over the phone that she had a one-liner for the film. She thought that this sounded intriguing. Since Guneet is an Oscar-winning producer, she can speak from experience when Sanya says she is excellent. The actor thought she had to be involved in this movie and couldn't wait to read the script.

When Guneet approached the actor, she claimed she was already certain she would be in Kathal: A Jackfruit Mystery. Sanya's experience with Pagglait was excellent. She's an actor; therefore, she always seeks out positive encounters. She has always known that she wants to work with ethical people. Sanya figured she would do it regardless of the story when Guneet arrived. She fell in love with the narrative when Yashowardhan Mishra and Ashok Mishra told it to her and wrote it in a month.

As an investigative satirical comedy, the new movie is being touted, and Sanya acknowledged that humour is not an easy task. Rajpal Yadav, Vijay Raaz, Anant Joshi, Neha Saraf, Govind Pandey, and Shashi Ranjan are also featured in it.

She thought that it was different. Female-led comedies are uncommon, and it was difficult for her. Comedy is difficult to convey on camera, and it's just not simple. It demands a lot, and having performers like Vijay Raaz and Rajpal Yadav alongside one might be unsettling, and it was. She wondered if she would be able to accomplish it or not. Sanya frequently experiences it, but eventually, everything turns out okay.
