There is not even an iota of doubt in the minds of Kannada film audiences that Rakshit Shetty’s next as an actor, Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, is one of the most awaited movies of the year. The Hemanth Rao directorial, which pairs Rakshit with Rukimini Vasanth and Chaitra Achar, has him sporting two drastically different looks, including one that is supposed to be a 10-years later avatar and a good 15-20 kilos heavier set.
The shoot of the film was wrapped up after a whopping 137 days on set, and Hemanth is currently neck-deep in the post-production of the same, given that the teaser of the 10 years later portions he had revealed in February hinted at a July release. Today, Rakshit confirmed that the team is aiming at an end of July theatrical, while speaking to reporters after casting his vote. “Sapta Sagaradaache Ello is being prepped for an end of July theatrical release. We are looking at Muharram,” he said. Muharram 2023 is on July 29, Saturday, so the best guess is that Sapta Sagaradaache Ello will be in theatres on July 28.
This is Hemanth’s second collaboration with Rakshit, after their earlier Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu. The film, which went on floors in May 2021, took time in the making, with some pandemic lockdown interruptions, but also because it required Rakshit to have a massive physical transformation and gain a considerable amount of weight for the second half.
Rakshit, who has been working on the script of his return to direction, Richard Anthony, is flying to the USA tonight to spend the foreseeable future there and focus solely on the final draft of the film. He is expected to return in time for the promotions of Sapta Sagaradaache Ello.
