Mahesh Babu and Keerthy Suresh's Sarkaru Vaari Paata had a solid start at the box office with its four-day weekend earning impressive collections for the distributors and the exhibitors. However, the real test for any film is its performance on a Monday and the action entertainer, expectedly, has witnessed a dip in its earnings, more so in the Telugu states. However, despite this, the masala flick has turned out to be the fourth consecutive film in Mahesh Babu's career to have accumulated over Rs 100 crore share across the globe.
The film's worldwide gross for five days stands at Rs 160.2 crore. If we were to discuss specifics, the Parasuram directorial has moved past the Rs 30 crore share mark in Nizam (the third film in Mahesh Babu's career to achieve such a feat). The film collected nearly Rs 1.86 crore on Monday (i.e. day 5) in the (Nizam) region. In both the Telugu states put together, Sarkaru Vaari Paata earned Rs 3.64 crore on day 5 on the whole.
In the East Godavari region (in AP), SVP earned Rs 54 lakh on day 5, taking its overall tally to Rs 7.05 crore. The situation in Guntur is more or less similar to the former, with the film collecting Rs 7.85 crore (day 5 collections being Rs 36 lakh) in its theatrical run to date. Sarkaru Vaari Paata managed a sum of Rs 4.65 crore, Rs 3.12 crore, Rs 5.76 crore in West Godavari, Nellore and Krishna respectively over these five days. The ceeded regions' collection was disappointing on Monday, with the film only managing Rs 85 lakh in gross.
Sarkaru Vaari Paata still needs to collect over Rs 25 crore share across the globe for the film to break even at the box office, which means that it can't afford to lose its momentum this weekend. A major advantage for SVP this week is the absence of big releases - Shekar and Degala Babji are not expected to come in the way or dent the film's collections by any means. The makers organised a success meet of the film in Kurnool yesterday, attended by Mahesh Babu, composer S Thaman, director Parasuram, lyricist Anantha Sriram, producers Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar.
