Sarkaru Vaari Paata: Mahesh Babu, Keerthy Suresh's entertainer collects over Rs 170 crore gross in week one, set to continue its momentum

Sarkaru Vaari Paata is a great example that a good release date and a star with a terrific box-office pull can go a long way in salvaging a not-so-great film at the theatres. Mahesh Babu was in the form of his life in the action entertainer, but there was little going for the film beyond his character. However,the box office collections of the Parasuram Petla directorial have a different story to tell. The makers, earlier today, have confirmed that the actioner has collected Rs 171 crore gross in the first week (the film released on a Thursday)

The 171-crore mark has helped Sarkaru Vaari Paata become one of the highest grossers in Telugu cinema for the first week. In terms of its share, the masala flick has garnered close to Rs 108 crore (Rs 107.26 crore) across the globe. While the ticket prices were enhanced in the first weekend, theatres will start selling tickets at regular rates starting today. Owing to the fact that this is the summer season, crowds are expected to turn in large numbers with their families.

While in Nizam, the film has earned Rs 34 crore share, ceeded regions and Uttrandhara have both collected around Rs 11 crore. Both Guntur and East Godavari regions have garnered Rs 8.12 crore and Rs 7.73 crore respectively. On the whole, the Telugu states have contributed Rs 87 crore out of the Rs 107 crore share worldwide. Karnataka and other regions of the country have managed about Rs 8 crore share. In other countries beyond India, the collections of SVP stand at Rs 12.43 crore. The film needs to earn over Rs 20 crore share to get the tag of a clean success.

Samuthirakani, Vennela Kishore, Subbaraju, Nadhiya, Naga Babu, Tanikella Bharani and Geetha Bhascker also play supporting roles in the film. The success meet of Sarkaru Vaari Paata was organised in Kurnool earlier this week. Mahesh Babu, after a few weeks of break, will commence shooting for hix next with Trivikram, which stars Pooja Hegde as the female lead. Sithara Entertainments is bankrolling the film.
