Sarvam Maya director Akhil Sathyan: 'Janardhanan called me & Nivin immature as...'

Fans of Nivin Pauly and movie buffs have high expectations for the Malayalam film Sarvam Maya, which they hope would be entertaining to watch during the Christmas season. Meanwhile, in an interview with Mathrubhumi Online, the film's director, Akhil Sathyan, expressed how eager he was to collaborate with Nivin from the start and the common aspects in between them.

'Janardhanan called us immature'

Akhil mentioned that he was eager to work with Nivin from the very beginning. "What if we plan a film together?" Once, Nivin made a phone conversation with me. I didn't feel competent enough to direct a movie of my own then. Later, Akhil was super thrilled to have Nivin for Sarvam Maya, narrating the story to him in another film set. I have a lot in common with Nivin. Akhil added that both were IT professionals and left their jobs for their love for cinema. Additionally, they would often laugh together without any apparent reason on the sets of Sarvam Maya. Throughout the shoot, Janardhanan said that the hero and the director are a little too immature due to this behavior of ours, he revealed.

Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum was put together with Nivin in mind, Akhil disclosed. He claimed that he had Nivin's smile in his mind while writing a scene in which Pachu smiles after jumping off the train for Hamsadhwani at the same railway station where Ummachi got off. In the meantime, the filmmaker expressed his conviction that a movie will decide its own destiny. Fahadh Faasil was brought in as Pachu when the project underwent changes for a variety of reasons later.

Nivin-Aju Varghese combination scenes in Sarvam Maya

Nivin himself proposed Aju's name, and Akhil said he liked filming all their combination sequences. "Every scene they've done have only exceeded my expectations," he continued. The young director explained Aju's outstanding performance by stating that he frequently thought that the gaps in Malayalam cinema left by late veteran actors, Innocent and Nedumudi Venu, were being filled. According to him, Nivin and Aju's on-screen chemistry serves as the primary driving force behind Sarvam Maya's plot development.

Sarvam Maya will release in theatres worldwide on December 25. The horror comedy also stars Preity Mukhundhan, Riya Shibu, Raghunath Paleri and Madhupal in important parts.
