After a long delay, Saswata Chatterjee's film Shororipu 2: Jotugriho is finally slated to release in theatres. The movie is expected to release on Durga Pujo. The film is likely to release on October 10, 2021.
Saswata confirmed the news on his Instagram handle by sharing his look from the movie. He plays the character of music director Debraj Sen in the film.

Unfortunately, Saswata does not play the lead character in the film. His character, in fact, dies very early in the narrative and the movie revolves around his death.
The story of the film is about a detective Chandrakanta who is called to investigate Debraj's mysterious murder. While at the face of it, the music director's death might appear to be a mere accident, there is also some suspicion that his wife is hiding a dark secret. The story unfolds that.
The film's prequel Shororipu, which was released in 2016, was lauded by both critics and audiences alike. The movie starred Indraneil Sengupta in the lead role. Rajesh Sharma and Sohini Sarkar also played pivotal roles in the movie. Rajesh is also a part of the second instalment of the film.
Shororipu 2 was first announced to be released on Durga Pujo in 2019. However, the film's release was delayed by a year. As luck had it, the COVID-19 pandemic forced shut the theatre soon after. Thus, the makers decided to further delay the film to a time when the audiences will finally be able to celebrate it completely in theatres. If luck is on their side, 2021 might just be the year this movie releases!
While the makers have confirmed that the film will be a theatrical release, there is no update on whether it will also stream on OTT. They are also yet to announce if any OTT platform has bought the rights to the film.
