After collaborating for the big budget period film Kayamkulam Kochunni, director Rosshan Andrrews and Nivin Pauly have teamed up for an all-out entertainer titled Saturday Night. The team released the first teaser of the film that hinted that the movie will be a comedy revolving around friendships.

The first video from the film featured the characters of Nivin, Aju Varghese and Saiju Kurup attending Siju Wilson’s wedding while the latter complained about them being the reason his bachelor life has ended. The video also packed in several relatable elements from each of the characters, be it Aju slipping while posing for the photograph or even the friends asking the bride to move so that the could get a photo with just their best buddy.

The movie, which had completed shooting earlier this year, was shot in Dubai, Mysore and Bengaluru. Saturday Night is currently being planned as a pooja release and will go head-to-head with Mammootty’s Rorschach, Mohanlal’s Monster and Suresh Gopi’s Mei Hoom Moosa at the end of September.

This would also be Nivin’s second theatrical release since the pandemic. Though the actor had Rajeev Ravi’s Thuramukham and Liju Krishna’s Padavettu scheduled for release, only Abrid Shine’s Mahaveeryar has so far hit theatres.

Saturday Night also has Grace Antony, Saniya Iyappan, Malavika, Prathap Pothen, Shari, Vijay Menon and Ashvin Mathew in supporting roles. The movie is scripted by Naveen Bhaskar, who had previously written Anuraga Karikkin Vellam and ABCD.

It’s also first big-budget entertainer from Rosshan, who had last directed Dulquer Salmaan’s direct-to-OTT release Salute, which is currently streaming on Sony LIV. The upcoming movie is produced by Ajith Vinayaka Films that is also backing Arun Gopy’s upcoming Dileep-starrer, which has Neil Nitin Mukesh and Tamannaah in central roles. The film is set to go on floors next month.
