Director Rosshan Andrrews and Nivin Pauly’s Saturday Night will have Saniya Iyappan in a never-seen-before avatar. The Queen actress recently opened up about the her role in the movie, which is set to hit theatres soon.

“Saturday Night is the first film for which I learnt something new. I play a bike rider, a traveller in the film. For that, I had to learn to ride a bike. It’s was challenging because I did get injured a few times,” said the actress, thanking Rosshan for entrusting her with the role.

Saniya plays the character named Vaishnavi in the movie, which also has Aju Varghese, Saiju Kurup, Siju Wilson, Grace Antony and newcomer Malavika. Talking at the trailer launch of the film that was held a month ago, Saiju said that the film is based on friendship. “It deals with the emotions of friendship – be it happiness, sorrow, anger or jealousy,” said the actor, who is teaming up with Rosshan for the second time.

Meanwhile, the movie marks the third theatrical release this year featuring Nivin, who is fresh off the success of Padavettu. The duo had previously worked together in the big budget period film titled Kayamkulam Kochunni. Saturday Night, which is scripted by Naveen Bhaskar, has been shot in different locations in Karnataka including Bengaluru and Mysore.

Nivin had previously said that after hearing the script, he was reminded of his friends and about spending time with them. He also said that he hopes the audience too would connect to that emotion. Saturday Night was initially set to release during the pooja holidays but it was pushed by a month with the film’s post-production work being incomplete.

Saturday Night will clash with Asif Ali’s investigative thriller Kooman, which is helmed by Jeethu Joseph, when it hits theatres on November 4.
