It might be over seven years since Premam and Action Hero Biju firmly established Nivin Pauly as a superstar. While many actors would cash in on the advantage to do more commercial films, he decided to choose films that also explored the side of him as an actor rather than a star. What followed were films such as Moothon and Sakhavu, which were critically acclaimed, but didn’t quite reach the heights of commercial success of his previous films. But that could change in 2022, with the actor having arguably the most exciting line-up of releases.

Here's a look at what’s in store from the charming actor, who turned 37 on October 11 this year.

Nivin’s next release will be Rosshan Andrrews’ Saturday Night, which is touted to be an all-out entertainer. The film revolves around four cousins essayed by Nivin, Saiju Kurup, Aju Varghese and Siju Wilson, and a series of incidents that happen in their lives.

Ram

The upcoming Ram directorial, which has Nivin teaming up with Anjali and Soori, also marks the Premam actor’s second straight Tamil movie. The actor, in an earlier interview with OTTplay, told us, “We get to learn a lot from how he explains each character and how they would behave in each sequence. He would always remind us to stay true to the character; so, you just have to be the character, it’s simple and at the same time an enjoyable process.”

Padavettu

Director Liju Krishna’s socio-political drama, set in Wayanad, has the actor essaying the role of a common man who takes the fight to the authorities for reclaiming what rightfully belongs to his people. The movie, which is set to hit theatres on October 21, also stars Aditi Balan, Shammi Thilakan and Indrans in pivotal roles.

Thuramukham

Nivin’s Thuramukham has been long delayed, but the Rajeev Ravi directorial could see the light of the day in November with producer Listin Stephen taking up its distribution rights. The period drama, which is set between the 1940s and 1960s, revolves around the chappa system that was prevalent in the Cochin port. Joju George, Indrajith Sukumaran, Darshana Rajendran and Arjun Ashokan are also part of the cast.

The film, helmed by Ishq director Anuraj Manohar, will be bankrolled by Nivin and could be his next project. The actor plays a member of a royal family in the entertainer, which revolves around the legal battles of the protagonist.

Nivin will play an actor in Kili Poyi director Vinay Govind’s all-out entertainer Thaaram, which is again bankrolled by Pauly Jr Productions. The film is scripted by Vivek Ranjit and is set to go on floors by this year's end or early next year.

Action Hero Biju 2

After Mahaveeryar, director Abrid Shine and Nivin will once again team up for the follow-up of the 2016 blockbuster Action Hero Biju, which will have the actor reprising his role as SI Biju Paulose. Abrid had said that the scripting work of the film has already began and that it will be made on a big budget.
