Siddharth recently wrote a series of tweets questioning the Andhra Pradesh government on the low cap of movie ticket prices. The actor who recently appeared in the movie Maha Samudram suggested calculating the average house rent and per capita consumer spending and then deciding the prices. He also added an example of the money he spent while watching a movie abroad for the first time.

The actor strongly said that the budget and scale of a movie is not something to be decided by the consumer. Rather it is fixed by the creator and investor, and no other individual has any right to decide how much anyone could earn from cinema.

“Why is that the film industry has to constantly be seen as a problem area by governments intent on telling them how to recover their investment?”, he questioned.

The actor said that the government orders for ticket prices on the number of shows come under the violation of the MRTP Act. He further appealed to give the cinema and cinema halls a chance to survive and grow.

Sid is one of the few actors who raised their voices against the movie ticket prices in Andhra Pradesh. Earlier, celebrities like Pawan Kalyan, Nani, Chiranjeevi and filmmaker Raghavendra Rao had openly shared their statements regarding the issue.

Meanwhile, the government plans to amend the AP Cinemas (Regulation) Act 1956. It aims to make it mandatory for the exhibitors to sell tickets only through online platforms, which will be operated by the State Film Development Corporation.

The Producers Guild and Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce had also reached out to the government earlier to address the issue.
