Sayantika Banerjee started her journey in Tollywood in 2009 with Swapan Saha’s Ghar Sangsar with Jisshu U Sengupta. After delivering multiple commercially successful films with Ravi Kinagi, Raja Changa and others, the actress joined politics. Ever since, she has been seen more in the field of elections, campaigns and rallies than on the big screen.

In an interview with Anandabazar, Sayantika said that she is choosy about the character she plays. Talking about her contemporary actresses Nusrat Jahan and Mimi Chakraborty, who have also joined the same political party and are current MPs from their respective constituencies, Sayantika said that she only believes in healthy competition. “I am absolutely not jealous of them. I don’t believe in any rat race. I believe in a healthy competition,” the actress said.

Sayantika became a household name for her dancing skills, especially after Ravi Kinagi’s Awara with Jeet and Mukul Dev. The film completed 10 years this year. Talking about the films, Sayantika said, “Awara is very close to my heart. While I have done several films before that, it was Awara that gave me fame.”

Sayantika also said that she is selective about her films. “I have always been particular about my work. I never wanted to work in bulk. Rather, my focus has always been on working in characters that will be remembered,” said the actress.

The actress was last seen in a dance number, Madhubala, in Raj Chakraborty's Shesh Theke Shuru with Jeet, Koel Mallick and Ritabhari Chakraborty. She will also be seen in Raja Chanda’s upcoming film with Ankush Hazra.
