Hansal Mehta announced that he is working on the third installment of his extremely hit SonyLIV show, Scam. Titled Scam 2010, the series will explore the Subrata Roy story. Subrata established Sahara India in 1978, and those associated with Sahara over the years have released an official statement against the show, soon after it was announced. Now, Hansal has responded to the same as well. He did so in the midst of his Gandhi series shoot in the UK. The show stars Pratik Gandhi and Tom Felton in the lead roles.
During his telephonic conversation with Hindustan Times, Hansal clarified that he is shooting in the UK and is not aware of the statement released by the Sahara family. “A relevant response will be provided by the relevant parties,” he further stated.
A statement released by the Sahara India family read, “An abusive and grossly condemnable act has been demonstrated by the makers of 'Scam' to achieve cheap and wide publicity, by announcing to unveil, Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga.” The statement further read that the family condemns such acts by all involved and would resist their ‘offending behaviour.’
Scam 2010 is adapted from Tamal Bandyopadhyay’s book Sahara: The Untold Story. Hansal Mehta returns as the director after the success of his first in the franchise, Scam 1992 (the show marked Pratik Gandhi’s debut in Bollywood and he became an overnight name thanks to the series). The filmmaker was associated with Scam 2003: The Telgi Story, telling the tale of Abdul Karim Telgi’s stamp paper scam, as a co-developer.
The cast of the series has not been announced as yet. The release date of the show is not out either. Scam 2010, like the other two, will release on SonyLIV and OTTplay Premium.
