Superhero fans - assemble! On the occasion of National Superhero Day, Marvel celebrated their legacy by releasing a featurette starring Scarlett Johansson, who is a chic Hollywood actor by day and Black Widow Natasha Romanoff for MCU by night.

The video, released on YouTube on April 28, begins with Johansson asking fans how much they really know about Romanoff. She then discusses the journey of the deadly assassin Avenger who has fought in the Battle of New York, defended the world against Ultron, and valiantly defeated Thanos with the Avengers.

“When all seemed lost, she held the team together. But how well do you really know her? It’s time for her story,” declares Johansson in the featurette. Her solo film Black Widow will cover the Russian spy-turned-Avenger’s time between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War.

MCU’s Black Widow film is releasing on July 9 in theatres and on Disney+ globally. The film is officially the first feature film instalment of the MCU Phase 4 slate, with other projects like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals scheduled for release later this year.

Another superhero who delighted MCU fans by celebrating the day was Mark Ruffalo, who we know as Dr Bruce Banner aka Hulk in Marvel films. He honoured his character by posting an Instagram picture, which is a behind-the-scenes glimpse from the set.

After facing multiple delays due to the pandemic, Johansson’s Black Widow will release on July 9.
