Karan Johar is all set to launch Shanaya Kapoor into the third part of his film franchise, Student of the Year but there is a twist.

Karan Johar, who is known for launching star kids in Bollywood, has found his next protege in Shanaya Kapoor, the daughter of Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor. Shanaya, who has already bagged a film opposite Mohanlal, will make her OTT debut with Student of the Year 3, which will be produced by Karan Johar and streamed on Disney plus Hotstar.
According to reports, Karan Johar is turning his popular Student of the Year movie franchise into a web series in partnership with Disney plus Hotstar. The series will continue the tradition of introducing new talent with the franchise and will feature Shanaya Kapoor as one of the leads.
According to the reports by Pinkvilla, Karan Johar would work with Disney+Hotstar to bring SOTY to OTT. The rumours indicate that the film is at the scripting stage and will go on floors in the last quarter of the year, however the storyline and other elements are kept under wraps. The director for the show will be chosen within a month.
Shanaya Kapoor will make her acting debut in Mohanlal's Pan-Indian epic action comedy Vrushabha, but Student of the Year 3 will be her first foray into the OTT world. “Karan Johar has planned her early Bollywood career very carefully and is making sure she is presented in the best possible way in her first few projects,” the report stated.
Student of the Year 3 will mark the third installment of the franchise that started in 2012 with Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. The second part was released in 2019 and starred Ananya Panday, Tara Sutaria and Tiger Shroff. The series is expected to go on floors later this year and release in 2024.
