David Arquette, Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox will be reprising their iconic roles from the franchise.

The fifth instalment of the Scream series has finally got a release date. The meta slasher film directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will hit the big screens on January 14, 2022. The makers announced the release date along with a new poster from the upcoming film. The poster features a person hiding behind the iconic Ghostface mask while holding the Buck 120 sharp knife. James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick have penned the script of Scream 5.
The poster also features the tagline stating, "It’s Always Someone You Know."
Scream 5 features David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Roger L Jackson and Marley Shelton reprising their roles from the franchise. Whereas Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Dylan Minnette, Mikey Madison, Sonia Ben Ammar and Kyle Gallner are the new addition to the cast.
Friends actor Courteney plays the role of Gale Weathers in the film and the actor had confirmed her presence in Scream 5 by teasing with a fun video.
Talking about the actor featuring in the upcoming film, Radio Silence had told Deadline, "We can’t imagine Scream without the iconic Gale Weathers and are so incredibly thrilled and humbled to have the opportunity to work with Courteney."
They added that they are absolute mega fans of her work and are excited to join her in the next chapter of the Scream saga!
Meanwhile, David will be seen as Dewey Riley and Neve will be reprising her role as Sidney Prescott.
Scream made its debut in 1996, while the second part was released the very next year. Moreover, Scream 3 hit the big screens in 2000 and the fourth instalment came after a decade in 2011. Interestingly, the fifth part of the Scream series is also coming after a decade and is slated to release in 2022.
