Brendan-led trilogy has been the high point for The Mummy franchise. The 1999 original movie is still remembered and revisited on Netflix to date. The Mummy was a commercial success upon its release that spawned two sequels - The Mummy Returns in 2001 and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. The trilogy started with Rick O'Connell, an adventurer who digs an ancient site and resurrects the Egyptian undead. While the first two films were very well received, the third film opened to mixed reviews leading to Universal shelving the franchise until 2017. In 2017, the makers released a reboot to the popular film starring Tom Cruise in the lead role but it was declared a flop at the box office. Universal's cinematic venture with the series thereon have not been successful and they decided to cancel the franchise. However, with the recent success of The Invisible Man, we hear that the Dark Universe is once more on the cards. And, what could be better than a sequel to The Mummy starring Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz and John Hannah?

Now, with Brendan Fraser announcing his come back to Hollywood after a long break, it seems perfect to have the sequel. His fans' joy has known no bounds and they are in fact, have also been demanding a sequel for The Mummy to see their favourite star on screen, reprising his role as Rick O'Connell. We totally agree! Brendan Fraser should return as Rick O'Connell. Here are the reasons why he should come back for a sequel to the horror-adventure film. Hollywood, hope you are listening to it.

The initial popularity of a franchise is very important and Fraser could bring that to the table with his action, romance and comedy in a horror film. Fraser's return would only fill seats at theatres again and can go a long way to correct Hollywood's biggest failures. The wrong treatment of the film in recent years has only enhanced the yearning of fans to get Fraser back and lead the story from where he left. The Fraser-led film is still watched even after two decades of its release.

This just keeps getting better and better. The actor himself has expressed his interest to return to the franchise. According to a Comic Book report, when a fan at Fan Expo Canada asked him if would return for a reboot of The Mummy movies, he shouted 'Absolutely'. He added, "I know how hard it is to make that movie. I tried to do it three times, and the essential ingredient is fun. You gotta remember to have fun. So if there’s a fun way to approach it again, I’m all in.”

Fans have been also sharing ideas for the sequel on social media that makers can work on. One of the fans tweeted: "Give us the Mummy sequel we deserve, instead of Indy 5 or Tom Cruise stuff! Completely underrated franchise." Another user shared an idea for the film saying the sequel can be set in the closing months of World War 2. He wrote: "Hitler wants an undead Army to turn the tide of the war!! The Mummy: Dead 2 Reichs. NAZI MUMMIES!!!"

The fans had also started a petition 'The Mummy 4, rumoured to be named The Mummy: Rise of the Aztecs' demanding to resurrect the fourth instalment of the series with Brendan Fraser. The petition reads: "This would be the perfect chance to correct the mistake that was the horrible Tom Cruise Mummy abomination, resurrect the careers of older movie stars, it also gives the chance to make new ones." The fans also suggested that Antonio Banderas be brought back as the main villain and The Rock as The Scorpion King, adding icing to the cake. The petition has received over 6,300 signatures until the time of the publishing of this article. The aim is to collect 7,500 signatures so that the petitioner can send it to Brendan Fraser and Lion's Gate Studio.

Sign in and join the fans in this movement to get the favourite film of the favourite stars again! We wish all the success for the petition.
