Screenwriter Khais Millen on his movies Adithattu and Paradise Circus, starring Shine Tom Chacko

Screenwriter Khais Millen seems to be on a mission to tell unique stories. That too stories of the ones who belong to the bottom end of the social ladder. There can’t be more of an example for it than his movies Adithattu and Paradise Circus. The former portraits the life of a fisherman while the latter is all about circus performers.

“We intend to give viewers a peek into a way of life not portrayed on screen before,” Khais told The New Indian Express. He also added that his team believes that they have accomplished the goal of telling stories of people who don’t get much attention from the other sections of society.

Adithattu is helmed by Jijo Anthony, while Paradise Circus is directed by Khais himself. It is also interesting to note that both of the films have actor Shine Tom Chacko in common, who is one of the finest versatile actors of contemporary Malayalam cinema. Both of the movies also have the same director of photography, Pappinu. 

Khais further said that the movies are crafted after studying the lives of real-life people by travelling and living with them. He also thinks that those are things which can’t be learnt from a distance. As a result, the team has managed to incorporate everything at the pre-production stage itself, spending one-and-a-half months for the same.

Talking about Paradise Circus, Khais revealed that the movie will have Shine and newcomer Ishita Singh playing the lead. Over 100 real-life circus artistes will also be taking part in the movie, according to him. Also, the story is set up at a pan-India level. The film is scheduled to release on May 27, 2022.
