PremiumSection 84: Amitabh Bachchan to star in Ribhu Dasgupta’s next
The upcoming courtroom thriller will mark the duo’s third collaboration.

Ribhu Dasgupta is gearing up to make yet another stint in the director’s chair yet again. The director’s next film is titled Section 84, and will see him collaborate with veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan yet again. Dasgupta will write and direct the courtroom drama thriller.
Bachchan took to his official Instagram handle to make the announcement. He captioned the post “.. a delight once again to be in the company of distinguished creative minds for this new venture , and the challenge it provokes, for me ..”.

The upcoming film will mark Dasgupta and Bachchan’s third collaboration together. The duo had worked together on the 2014 limited series Yudh and the 2016 film Te3n. On his latest collaboration with Bachchan, Dasgupta had this to say “Dasgupta expresses, "I feel happy, blessed, and honoured to collaborate with Sir again. Looking forward to it”.
Section 84 is presented by Reliance Entertainment in association with Jio Studios and produced under the banners of Reliance Entertainment, Film Hangar, and Saraswati Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. In a statement, Vivek B. Agrawal, a producer on the film from Reliance Entertainment spoke of how it was an honour to have Bachchan on board for their next film. Agrawal added that he was thrilled to start the ‘adventure’ with the director and actor.
Reliance Entertainment’s VP of marketing, Sameer Chopra, also shared his thoughts on the venture. Saying that he was delighted, Chopra promised that Section 84 would turn out to be an incredible watch for audiences, ensured by the combination of Bachchan’s super stardom and Dasgupta’s amazing craft of storytelling.
Dasgupta’s last directorial came in the form of Code Name: Tiranga, which starred Parineeti Chopra, Harrdy Sandhu and Sharad Kelkar in lead roles.
Bachchan was last seen in Sooraj Barjatya’s Uunchai, which saw him share the screen with Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta and Boman Irani. The actor’s upcoming releases include Nag Ashwin’s Project K.
