The show is based on the life of Selena Quintanilla, one of the shining stars in the '90s. The Mexican-American icon was not only a singer and songwriter but also an entrepreneur, model, actress and fashion designer. She was one of the most celebrated entertainers and was called the Queen of Tejano music, for her contributions to music and fashion.
Before the series, a movie on her life was released in 1997, two years after her death, with Jennifer Lopez playing the singer. The Hustlers star posted a video on Instagram ahead of the Mexican icon’s 25th death anniversary, reminding fans of her movie that celebrated Quintanilla’s life. “As an artiste, this movie truly was an experience I'm going to remember for the rest of my life,” Lopez wrote.
