Selfie, starring Akshay Kumar, Emraan Hashmi, Nushratt Bharuccha, and Diana Penty and directed by Raj Mehta, has had a dismal box office opening. Neither the on-the-day sales nor the advance bookings for the movie truly took off. Although the opening and box office numbers for the movie have since been lower for the other cast members, Akshay's are the lowest. The movie opened to shockingly low numbers at the box office according to trade expert Taran Adarsh. The total collection of Selfiee, including PVR: 64 lacs, INOX: 43 lacs and Cinepolis: 23 lacs, made just 1.30 cr. The final collections of day 1 is expected to be somewhere around 2-3 crore, which is far less than the expectations. Yet again, being startled and amazed is always just a Friday away.

Selfiee almost certainly won't be able to generate a respectable box office total at the end of its initial theatrical run given the film's poor performance at the box office and the average reviews it has received. The terrible debut of Selfiee has the whole film business in shock. The promotion was excellent in terms of quantity but lacking in quality, which is why the movie didn't even have a respectable opening weekend. The idea that a movie like Pathaan, on its 31st day, is drawing in more crowds to theatres, not just in India but also abroad, may sound shocking but isn't.

In all likelihood, it wouldn't be shocking if the movie's global box office revenue on its 31st day was larger than Selfiee's on the opening day. Because a reputable star like Akshay Kumar, in a commercial movie zone, can't draw viewers on the first day, how can we expect less well-known and less reliant actors to get an opening for their films? The box office collections today depict a very terrible image of the Hindi film industry.

Shehzada, the last week's film starring Kartik Aaryan, performed poorly at the box office and failed to capture audiences' attention. Even Marvel's Ant-Man 3 has significantly underperformed. However, despite spending a month in theatres, Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan is still making money.
