Selfiee trailer launch: Emraan Hashmi calls Akshay Kumar a 'farishta'

The much-awaited trailer for Selfiee is finally out. Directed by Raj Mehta, the forthcoming flick stars Akshay Kumar, Emraan Hashmi, Nushrratt Bharuccha and Diana Penty along with Mrunal Thakur in a cameo role. 

During the recent trailer launch event, Emraan shared his thoughts on the film and how Akshay has been a supportive co-actor to him. Speaking of a bad old phase, the actor revealed how the Khiladi actor helped him out. "I didn't know him (Akshay) very well back then. In your happy time, a lot of people come to you, but during your bad time only 'farishtey' (angel) comes to you and that's Akshay for me."

After a moving speech, Emraan spoke about the film and said, "Karan (Johar) gave me a brief to me a brief synopsis about the story of a superstar and superfan and I was sold on that. And then Raj (Mehta) read the script to me about these two people and the dynamic between them. And it is the film where the equation between the two is dramatic, entertaining, and very funny at times." "Shooting with him (Akshay) is so much fun, it is like a holiday. He is so funny in films but he is even funnier in real life. And it was such a delight to work with him."

Akshay shared the fun and action-packed trailer on his official Instagram handle with a quirky caption that reads, "Iss kahaani ka villain toh pata nahi par hero #Selfiee hai! Watch #SelfieeTrailer now. #Selfiee releasing only in cinemas on 24th Feb. (Sic)."

The Raj Mehta directorial is backed by Hiroo Yash Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Supriya Menon, Karan Johar, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Apoorva Mehta and Listin Stephen.

Selfiee is slated to have a theatrical release on February 24.
