Severance, the sci-fi psychological thriller created by Dan Erickson and directed by Ben Stiller and Aoife McArdle, is retuning for a second season. Launched in 2022, the 9-episode first season introduced audiences to the employees of Lumon Industries, a biotechnology firm who undergo a medical procedure that separates their professional and personal space memories. The show had been renewed for a second season and now we have a release date too. Severance Season 2 will come to Apple TV+ starting January 17, 2025.
Severance stars Adam Scott as Mark Scout, a former teacher who chose to get severed after losing his wife. However, he uncovers a conspiracy at Lumon at the end of Season 1. Also on the cast are Patricia Arquette, John Turturro, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Tramel Tillman, Dichen Lachman, Michael Chernus, Christopher Walken, among others.
The first season was a major success, bagging as many as 14 Emmy nominations. Ben Stiller returns to direct and has helmed 5 of the 10 episodes of Season 2. The teaser that came out on July 10, does not shed much light on what to expect, given the cliffhanger ending of the first season, but the official note from Apple states that Mark and his pals learn the consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, which leads them down a path of woe. Severance Season 2 will run from January 17 to March 21, with weekly episode drops every Friday.
Apple TV+ recently concluded the first season of the sci-fi show Dark Matter and is set to bring Silo back for a second season. It’s upcoming slate includes titles like Lady in the Lake, the Instigators, Bad Monkey, Pachinko (season 2), Time Bandits, Me, among others.
