A major issue with Sex and the City has been its lack of characters of colour. However, the revival And Just Like That... has now cast Nicole Ari Parker, Sara Ramírez, Sarita Choudhury and Karen Pittman.

Parker in a conversation with Variety said that the show will address race via its storyline. "I’m excited to be a part of something that’s different for them," said the actor.

She explained what's new in the upcoming show: “We can talk about the elephant in the room that there were no fully fleshed-out characters of color, but now here’s the four of us. We’re real people, and they’ve been great to work with, and some of our [storylines] deal with race and deal with real experiences. It’s New York City!."

The makers have not yet revealed how big or small a role these actors will play in the show, and who exactly they will be playing.

And Just Like That... will see the return of Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw, Kristin Davis as Charlotte York-Goldenblatt and Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbes. Kim Cattrall will not reprise her iconic character Samantha Jones this time.

The new series will have themes similar to the original show, but with the main characters now in their '50s.

However, Chris Noth as Mr Big/John James Preston, Mario Cantone as Anthony Marentino, late Willie Garson as Stanford Blatch, David Eigenberg as Steve Brady and Evan Handler as Harry Goldenblatt will be seen in the show.

HBO Max had announced that And Just Like That... will be out in December this year.
